Half made up!

Hey guys, I know it has been a while, I have been mad busy….. or perhaps just a tad bit lazy. The last few weeks have been a blast, especially the bank holiday weekend which consisted of raving, dinner, BBQ the fight between Hatton and pac man and catching up with friends old and new.

Work has improved but I still know that there are better things out there; I know that I sound ungrateful as thousands of people are losing their jobs but my thing is that you make your own chances. My aim is that this time next year I will not be sat writing at this very desk as I will be carrying out some of my plans will keep you posted.

I got myself some tickets to see Beyonce at the o2, I can’t wait as I am a big fan and I have no doubt that her concert will be amazing. I paid stupid money for them as ticket master died when I attempted to buy them and the fcukers that managed to snap them are charging Michael Jackson prices to go and see her. Last year the spice girls concert was so much fun, I know you are probably thinking WTF was I doing at a spice girl concert, but what can I say I actually like their whacky music, I was on my feet for all of the night it was just way too much fun! Of the five concerts that I reached last year Mary J Blige was definitely the queen, boy cab she can sing and her songs were moving people differently and she was just so real. The woman puts so much emotion in to each song; she was able to relate each song to a personal experience that she went through. There were not 20 costume changes or mad lighting or even backing dancers like the other shows, she was the sole person on stage but yet her presence filled the arena. I went home that night feeling that I witnessed something magical and I actually viewed certain aspects of my life differently and had a renewed belief in myself. She definitely belongs in a church as she has the power to touch people!!

Mehn on Friday after I arrived at work I went straight to the bathroom to wash my hands. This is a ritual for me, especially if I have had to ‘hang tough’ on the tube the tube is just too nasty for my liking. I took a look in the mirror and was mortified, I was racking my head trying to remember how this had happened then it hit me I cringed and tried to think of a way to remedy the situation. I was basically applying my foundation in the morning and my phone rang mid way through my application. By the time I had finished on the phone I must have forgot what I was doing, put on my earrings and shoes and headed to work. Now a few things were running through my head, how many people saw me on my way to work??? Why didn’t any one point out that one half of my face was yellow and the other brown???? How many people were catching jokes at my expense??? As I don’t usually wear makeup during the week it came as no surprise that when I reached into my bag there was no foundation in it. The whole reason why I wanted to wear make up in the first place was because I got very little sleep as I got in late and never went straight to sleep. Resulting in the panda bear effect, the only option that I had was to wash my face. I spent the rest of the day being told that looked tired. Lesson learnt is to not turn my phone on until I get to work!
On a happier note my cousin had a baby boi Joel, congrats cuz although he will not be reading this anytime soon……………..

Love on the Train

On my way to work this morning as usual, I have a few options but they all include at least 2 trains and some walking. Today I took my typical route, DLR, Jubilee line and the Victoria line. I was sat on the jubilee line near the door there was a lady sat opposite me. When our eyes met she smiled, this is kinda unusual in London as most people walk around with screw faces. The train was not as packed as it usually is; I guess that people are still on their Easter holidays or looking after their kids on their Easter break from school.

The train doors opened at London bridge a couple got on. The couple looked like they were really into each other. They settled on one of those glass rests, the man’s back was facing away from the rest of the carriage. They were kissing off each others faces kinda annoying but who am I to hate. I noticed that the cheery look on the lady sat opposite me disappear, she looked quite upset. She was staring hard at the couple. A few thoughts crossed my mind. Had she just suffered a break up? Was she was reminiscing on a current or past love, or was just she plain and simply jealous. She was pretty enough so I could not imagine her being jealous. But stranger things have happened. Being pretty does not equate to being guaranteed a boyfriend.

Two stops later we are at waterloo, the doors close the man peels himself off his partner and turns around. He sees the chick sitting opposite me and the colour literally drained from his face. I smile to myself thinking that this is gonna get interesting. The gal opposite me gets up and taps his partner on her shoulder, I smile. “Excuse me” she says, “can you please ask that man, yes the one that you were kissing, to come by mine later and collect his belongings that have been accumulating in my property over the last 6 months? Can you also ask him to post my key through the letter box when he has finished. He has until 8pm tonight else I will give his stuff to charity”. The man sequels “baby I don’t know her she is mad”, his partner who turns out to be his wife typically believes him calls the gal a liar. I am almost wetting myself, the train door opens at Westminster, the chick that was sat opposite me gets off not before saying “he has a birth mark on his inner thigh” the man gets paler the wife’s face turns red as the realisation of her husbands affair hits her, she bursts into tears and says something along the lines of how could you do that to me, 6 years, 6 years. The carriage goes quiet waiting for the next drama to unfold, next stop was green park, my stop I was so angry, I reluctantly left the train, as I was walking I was wondering what could be unfolding as I heading up the escalator. How unlucky was that guy!?! What are the chances of you having an affair and getting caught out on the bloody tube!!

Other than the one day of sunshine nothing much as been happening, just depressed Liverpool supports everywhere…….. Its funny how sports can put people in all sorts of moods, but that is another entry….

Getting Back into My Routine

The weather last weekend was lovely did not really do much, being outdoors in the warm weather is enough to put a smile on my face. I always ask myself how I ended up on an island without out any warm weather or should I say 3 non existent months of summer.

I just missed out on the Japanese festival where you chill in the park drinking alcohol watching the blossom drop. I may not be Japanese or still be in Japan but I am sure that I can organise a similar get together in London. Its currently spring and all the tress are full of blossom. Only thing is I don’t know how to predict when the blossom will fall. In my head I feel like none of that is relevant, British people have never needed an excuse to drink. I am sure that I can round up a few heads via FB and see how it goes. The only problem will now be trying to second guess the British weather to set a date, because surprise surprise this weekend has been miserable.

This week has been a weird one, I applied fro a job on Tuesday (day after I got back) got an interview the following Tuesday and a job offer on the Thursday. I never expected it to be so quick after coming back from my holiday. I should be elated but once the interview was over I knew that, that was no place that I could work. When the holiday is over I will let them no that I am not taking the job. Besides they were only offering 1.5k more than what I am on already. I do want to leave my current post but I am not desperate which means I have the advantage of sitting tight until I find something that I truly want to do. Wouldn’t it be great if the job being advertised actually matched the job spec that you are provided with.

I got some bad news on Thursday, one of my best friends lost her baby :( she had a little boy. It really hit me as I was so looking forward to meeting the little man. I pray that he rests in peace and that my Gal bounces back stronger than ever.

Saturday I returned to boxing, I have not trained for 4 weeks so I knew it would be hard, one of my friends came to watch. Mehn, Simone worked us hard, at one point my face went red and thought that I could not breathe, in my head I thought this shit was easy the last time I did it. Once I got through the training I felt better for it. I need to work on my speedball technique, my pad work, bag work and sparing are improving. I am finding it hard to master the speedball, I guess I need to get to training earlier to try and make the speedball my friend. Word of advice don’t take any time out of you exercise schedule as its twice as hard to get back into it. All the walking around that I did on my hols probably only helped me get through the warm up!

As its Easter I am going to stop writing and appreciate the fact that there is no work tomorrow and make the most of the day. I also need to hunt for food which will be hard as no where is open today except for the fast food joints; not a massive fan of kfc, mcd’s and such places, I prefer to cook. I should have really stopped at the supermarket yesterday when I had the chance.

The Good, the Bad and the Funny

Brief round up of my experience

People staring then refraining from making eye contact when you look back at them
Men carrying female handbags
Elderly people randomly exercising around the city
Everyone selling stuff putting on high pitched voices

People taking pride in their work, from cleaners to city workers
People are very patriotic but they don’t rub it in your face
The chicks really take pride in the way that they look (London Gals take note)
Food what can I say with the exception of two dishes everything was tasty

Bad

Still shocked at the sight of black people

Miss the most

Clean roads
Punctual trains
Good food (especially sushi)

Tokyo is somewhere that everyone should visit at some point in their life. I will be definitely coming back.

Final Days

Been late with my posts, my body was a little traumatised trying to synch back up to British time and having to cope with going back to work.

Saturday was a blast; we went to Kamakura, which is around 1 hour away from Tokyo on the train. When we arrived the street was crazy, jam packed with people. We went to a temple, the temple was huge, and you could see mountains and the surroundings were really green. There was a wedding taking place when we arrived. The bride was all in white; however her dress was not the usual type that we are used to in the western world. She was wearing a kimono, and instead of a veil she had a hat resembling a cone on her head. She looked quite cool. On our way out of the temple we saw another bride; she was slightly older and was posing for photos. For me there would have been way too many spectators for my big day, but I guess for them it must have been a privilege to be married at such a beautiful temple.

We walked for 20 minutes to reach our next destination, it was a bamboo forest, the trees were so beautiful, never realised how tall bamboo tress were, although the sun was out it was really dark as the leaves blocked out the sun. When we arrived I was desperate for the loo, we found some I pushed the first door open and to my horror it was a pit! So were the next 4 doors that I pushed. I started dancing on the spot as I could not bring myself to use one as the notion of a hole in the floor is foreign to me…. Luckily the last door swung open and it was a western toilet.

We next visited the Buddha, we had to take the train to get there. The statue was magnificent it was so big. It made me wonder how people in the past were able to construct such a thing without any of the machinery that we have at our disposal today. After taking some snaps we left I was a little disappointed that there was not more in the area to see.

We headed back to Chikatetsu-akatsuka where my bro lives, we got dinner from the meat joint. They basically bring out cuts of raw meat and you cook it yourself. The flame grill that they brought out went nuts and there were flames everywhere. I started acting like a dumb chick and was running as I was afraid that my extensions will catch fire. As you know they are quite flammable: D.

The party destination tonight was Shibuya, after the madness that I saw the previous weekend () I decided to brace myself for the worst. We met Aya and Joe and headed to a club called pure. The club was great, I had so much fun!!! The bashment was live the people were cool and it was drink all you like!!!! We left the club, headed to mc D’s then went home. Like the previous week Joe remained behind.

Sunday was my final supper we went to an uden place in Roppongi, we met Aya, Z (a guy we met on the train on Friday) and Z’s friend James caught up with us. The food was not that great, it tasted like wagamama’s a Japanese chain in the UK. But as usual the company was great. For dessert we went to stone cold, an American ice cream joint. You basically tell them the flavour that you want and they make it up in front of you. I visited a branch in Maryland so I knew that it would taste great. I left a tip and the staff burst into song, it was one of the funniest things I saw out there.

I have now been back in London for 6 days, my body has only just adjusted. I went through periods of I wanting to sleep whilst at work, red bull became my best friend and when I got home I was so charged that I could not sleep. When I finally drifted I was up at 4am starving!!!! Anyway I am glad that everything appears to have regulated itself now.
